My Top Five Hair Care Tips
I get a lot of questions about my hair, so I thought I’d give you my top five hair care tips for easy ways to make your hair healthier and better looking:
Don’t Wash Your Hair Every Day
Unless you’re working up a serious sweat every day, you can probably get away with washing your hair less frequently. Most women I know wash their hair daily or every other day, but believe it or not, the more often you wash, the faster hair gets oily. Wait until you’re on vacation from work and then go a full week without washing your hair (it helps to wear a hat). After that, wash it every four days or so. Your hair will take a few days before it starts to get greasy rather than a few hours. And you’ll be shocked by how much healthier your hair looks!
Don’t Brush Your Hair Very Often
Most brushes are harder on hair than you’d think: many of them tear a lot of hair out unnecessarily. Brushing also distributes oil from roots toward the ends of hair, which makes hair look greasier. It helps to avoid brushing dirty hair (at least at the roots) if you want to extend your time between washes. When you do brush, use something gentle like a Tangle Teezer or a Wet Brush. I brush my hair probably twice a week (as often as I wash it).
Avoid Blowdrying Your Hair If You Can
They may be unavoidable for you, but your hair will thank you if you can save the hot tools for special occasions. Your color will last longer and your hair will be so much healthier. So many women totally reject the idea of letting their hair air dry, but it might be worth it for you to try it! If you do want or need to use heat, make sure you’re using something like Aussie Hair Insurance Heat Protecting Shine Spray to protect you hair.
Color As Infrequently As Possible
Coloring hair is a damaging process, so you want to do it as little as possible. Seeing an awesome colorist helps…not only will you look great, you’ll save money because you’ll be going less often!
Don’t Touch Your Hair
Playing with your hair all day can lead to unnecessary fallout and extra grease.
I know they’re not all realistic for everyone, but hopefully you’ve found these tips helpful or interesting! What’s your best hair tip?
