How to Make Your Makeup Last Longer
Here’s a quick tip: you can make makeup last longer by layering like ingredients. If your foundation is silicone-based, you should use a silicone based primer. If you’re wearing a water-based foundation, use a water-based primer under it. The same goes for cream and liquid blushes.
Although some foundations are oil-based, almost every mass-market foundation is silicone or water-based. If you’re looking at a foundation and trying to figure out which, looking at the ingredient list is a little less straight forward than you might think.
Even if water is at or near the top of a product’s ingredient list, it’s not necessarily water-based. Here’s the easiest way to tell:
If you see words that end in cone, methicone, or siloxane near the top of a product’s ingredient list, it’s probably silicone-based. If water is at the top of the list and other silicone ingredients are not, it’s probably water-based.
Most of the foundations I like to wear are silicone based, so I use Hourglass Veil Primer with them.
