Kardashian Beauty Intimate Spotlight ($9.99)
This liquid ray of light by Kardashian Beauty by Kourtney, Kim and Khloe has a soft focus when used alone as an illuminizer on eyes, lips, cheeks or cupids bow, putting an intimate spotlight on every feature that deserves its own round of applause. Time to shine and bring out your best features. Look lit from within, like candlelight, 24 hours a day.
I thought this was a powder highlighter when I bought it, but it’s actually a gel. The texture is very similar to that of Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush. I’m not sure the gel itself has any pigment, I think it’s colored shimmer suspended in clear gel. It’s interesting, but I’ve had better luck with powder or cream highlighter than this formula, which is kind of a mix of both.
Intimate Spotlight is available in three shades: Champagne Light is a light gold, Serene Light is a cool pink, and Illuminate is a coppery gold. I purchased Illuminate, which probably wasn’t the best choice for my skin tone of the three.
In the photo below on the left, I’m not wearing highlighter and in the photo on the right, I’m wearing Intimate Spotlight in Illuminate in the inner corners of my eyes, on my Cupid’s bow, and on the tops of my cheekbones.
If you can’t see any difference in these photos, that’s okay because I can’t either. It’s hard to tell I’m wearing any highlighter at all! I had a lot of trouble capturing the effect of this highlighter in pictures.
I had a difficult time with application. I used my finger (instead of a brush) to apply, but I couldn’t blend without picking up foundation, so I ended up with a mostly unblended line of highlighter down my nose.
Since it’s so shimmery, I’d like Intimate Spotlight better if it were a powder. I found myself unable to blend without disturbing my foundation and gel/cream/liquid highlighters don’t look good just sitting on top of the skin! Decent drugstore highlighters are hard to find, so I like this product for the price.
