I’ve talked about my favorite lip balm, lanolin, a lot before. Plenty of brands make lanolin products, but I usually opt for Lansinoh’s HPA Lanolin. It’s easy to find in the baby aisle at drugstores because it’s marketed as a nipple cream for nursing mothers. I use lanolin instead of regular lip balm for two reasons:
- It costs about as much as the average lip balm, but you get a lot more product. A tube of Jack Black Lip Balm, for example costs $7.50 for 0.25 oz; a tube of Lansinoh Lanoin costs $9.99 for 1.41 oz.
- Lanolin works better for me than most lip balms!
So it’s great! The only real drawback is that the huge tube is inconvenient for storage in a purse or smaller makeup bag. That’s why I’m so excited that Lansinoh has released a set of three mini tubes. Each tube is 0.25 ounces (the average size for a tube of lip balm), so they fit perfectly in pockets and purses.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the tubes say “heals, soothes & protects sore nipples” right across the front. I don’t really mind this, but some of you might find conspicuous nipple cream too weird to use on your face. In that case, try Paula’s Choice Lip & Body Treatment Balm–it’s not 100% lanolin, but it’s formulated with a ton of lanolin.
