Paula’s Choice RESIST BHA 9 for Stubborn Imperfections is a spot treatment that promises to treat nine different skin concerns using sustained-release salicylic acid:
- Unclog pores with the first use
- Diminish white bumps
- Minimize enlarged pores
- Refine and smooth skin’s texture
- Minimize sebaceous hyperplasia
- Smooth and soften dry, rough patches
- Help balance oily skin
- Fade red marks from breakouts
- Reduce breakouts
BHA 9 can be used by all skin types, but you should avoid it if you’re allergic to asprin or asprin derivatives. It has a new precise-control pump so you’ll waste less product. The packaging also has a convenient window on the side so you can see how much product is left in the tube:
BHA 9 Can be used as a spot treatment on imperfections or on larger areas (see paulaschoice.com for additional information and precautions). The amazing Wayne Goss raved about this product as a treatment for smoothing dry areas, but I wanted to see how well it would treat my clogged pores (i.e. blackheads). I applied a small amount of BHA 9 to my t-zone and any other spots where my pores tend to get clogged as the last step in my nighttime routine. Even the next day, I could see that my skin looked and felt noticeably softer. I didn’t, however, see a huge difference in the number of blackheads in the area I’d treated.
After several weeks of testing, BHA 9 absolutely delivers on most of its claims–I can’t test whether the product actually diminishes white bumps and minimizes sebaceous hyperplasia because I don’t have those particular issues with my skin (if you’ve used BHA 9 to treat these issues I’d love to hear your feedback!). My skin looks less oily, I’ve suffered fewer breakouts, red marks have started to fade, and my skin looks and feels softer.
I don’t think my pores look smaller or any less clogged, but I think I have particularly stubborn blackheads (the only effective treatment I’ve used in the past is Retin-A).
BHA 9 hasn’t worked wonders on my clogged pores, but it very well could treat yours! It has seriously improved the quality of my skin by treating other imperfections.
