Why I Love Foundation

Why I Love Foundation

When it comes to base makeup, it seems like a lot of my friends skip foundation and head straight for concealer, blush, and bronzer. That works well for me for quick looks, but more often than not, I start with foundation. My skin looks pretty splotchy on its own, so I think foundation is the step in my makeup routine that makes the biggest difference. Here are some pictures that offer some proof (not all before and after shots were taken on the same day, but I think these represent the way I look with and without makeup on any given day pretty accurately):

This last one is one just for fun, but I think my skin looks looks far more even-toned in the photo on the right (where I’m wearing foundation), even from far away:

What’s the most transformative step in your beauty routine? How often do you wear foundation?

Thanks, Kate Winslet is beautiful! I totally understand your foundation woes…I often end up settling for shades that are just too dark for me because I like the formula. In case it’s helpful for you, the best foundation matches I’ve found recently are Illamasqua Skin Base in 4.5 and Kevyn Aucoin Liquid Airbrush in LQ 05.

I have a ton of products that I don’t end up using all of…and I’m not very good at returning either. Not a good system!
